– which examines the past to explore its affect on the present. It reveals issues which may be in the subconscious. Attachment theory – which stems from our earliest relationships is also a part of this therapy.
– This type of talking therapy was initiated by Carl Rogers. With the right, nurturing conditions a person can alter his/her self image and thereby expand his/her circumstances and instrument the necessary changes.
– Gestalt examines the present situation in view of the individual and his/her framework – whilst also considering relationships with others. It is interested in meaning-making and encourages one ‘to ‘lose one’s mind and come to one’s senses.’
Transactional Analysis (TA)
– This therapy recognises that there is a committee in our minds – and that we act and react –
what we have heard and maintained from our Parents;
how we relate as an Adult;
how we react and act from our Child self.
It also examines what ‘games’ we play and how and why we play them.
